The Southwest Austin and Dripping Springs areas are host to some of the top independent school districts in the state of Texas. Below, we have listed a little information about each ISD and links to the predominant schools located in the Southwest Austin and Dripping Spring's area.
Dripping Springs ISD
Dripping Springs ISD is located in the northwestern part of Hays County, Texas. They offer a comprehensive curriculum based on a goal of student achievement. This curriculum addresses the needs of students from early childhood through twelfth grade.
The district currently (2009) operates four campuses and maintains an average teacher-to-pupil ratio of 21.16 for all grade levels. These schools are the center of the community, which is actively supported through P.T.A./P.T.O and volunteer programs.

Lake Travis ISD
Lake Travis ISD serves the growing area of Lake Travis, located approximately 20 miles west of Austin, Texas. Originally a component of Dripping Springs ISD, Lake Travis ISD split off in 1981.
Lake Travis ISD is now home to four elementary schools, two middle schools, and a high school. The district's goal is to serve as a model of educational excellence by making use of the combined skills of students, teachers, support staff, involved parents and citizens.

Austin ISD
Austin ISD claims seventy-eight elementary schools, seventeen middle schools, twelve high schools, and six special campuses.
Austin ISD has been rated Academically Acceptable by the Texas Education Agency (AEIS). They have large annual budget but still maintain the lowest tax rate of any school district in Central Texas. Below are the preferred schools serving the Southwest Austin and Dripping Springs areas.
